Hawkins Burgundy Coat was well known in St Louis among the Saloons where he dealt Faro. It was one of the things that had drawn Cade to work with Hawkins. The man seemed fearless at times, but Cade knew a side of him that most men never would. They traveled together on the Paddle Boats dealing Faro and building a trust in one another that few men had. Cade knew his strength and weakness, and his greatest weakness was Clover. Cade never had a liking for the women, but knew and respected Hawkins long history with her. He would see him at his best and also when he fought going back to the bottle that had brought him so much comfort during the war. Hawkins and his dame Burgundy Coat was always one to bring attention, sometimes not always the kind of attention a man wanted.
